I think that we all agree that Muslim women can wear pretty much whatever we want as long as it covers the appropriate body parts. But, I also think that modesty is more than just what you wear -- It's also about how you carry yourself.

I started thinking about this because lately, I've been seeing a lot of pictures of Muslim women in niqab who have heavy eyeliner and makeup on. In addition to the makeup, a lot of the Muslim women in the pictures are deliberately being seductive in how they "pose" their eyes.

To me, that just defeats the purpose of hijab. If you're trying to be modest so that you are hiding your beauty, why put on a seducing, "Stare Into My Eyes" face? (ANTM fans know that "smile with your eyes" thing.)

And then there are the pictures of Muslim women with their bodies posed in a sexy way. Take a look at the picture below and tell me what you think about all of this.

CAIRO, Egypt, June 9--An Egyptian court ruled on Saturday that a US-accredited university [the American University] in Cairo was wrong to bar a Muslim female scholar [Iman al-Zainy], who wears a face veil, from using its facilities, court sources and a lawyer for the woman said.

"The court said in the strongest of terms that it is up to women to decide about their clothing, and that women should not be discriminated against because of the clothes that they choose to wear," he told Reuters. "A complete ban on the niqab is now outlawed as a matter of principle."

{Couture Hijab?}

This niqab look walked the runway at London Fashion Week last Monday. The outfit was designed by Fashion East designer Louise Golden. Maybe she is making a statement against the British political campaigns to ban hijab.


A Fox News article reports that designers like Prada, and Marc Jacobs are also offering headcovers. Their turbans, made of luxe silks and satins, can cost upwards of $700 - and celebs like JLo are buying them.

I don't know how to feel about this couture hijab trend, but JLo has never looked so good!
